Local Attractions FAQs

Start planning your Barbados adventure by finding answers to common questions about nearby beaches, cultural sites and how to get around.

  • What is the best way to get around Barbados?

The local number 11 bus is a short walk from OceanBlue. It travels between Inch Marlow and Bridgetown stopping at many of the popular beaches along the way. The cost is BBD 3.50 or USD 1.75 per person, per ride. Alternatively you can hire a car from Stoutes Car Rental, Drive-A-Matic or Go Rent A Car. If you are planning to rent a car then do this early on as availability is limited between November and December and during Crop Over. Some of our guests choose to rent a car for a few days during their stay to explore the island and then use the bus for beach days.

  • Is there an Uber service in Barbados?

PickUP Barbados is our Uber equivalent. You can visit their site to downlad the PickUP Barbados App at https://pickupbarbados.com/

  • How much is a taxi from the airport to OceanBlue?

The cost of a taxi from the airport to OceanBlue is about BBD 50 or USD 25 cash. Very few taxis in Barbados accept credit cards so it is advised to travel with cash.

  • Can I pay with foreign currency?

Most places in Barbados will accept USD at an exchange rate of USD 1 to BBD 2 (some stores may exchange at USD 1 to BBD 1.98) as the Barbados dollar is tied to the US dollar. Any other currency will need to be changed at a bank so it is reccommended to travel with either Barbados or United States dollars. Please note that US coins, 1 dollar bills or any marked or torn bills will not be accepted at any location in Barbados. It is also advised to travel with denominations of 5, 10 and 20 dollar bills.

  • What are the best beaches near OceanBlue Resort?

Enterprise Beach, also known as Miami Beach is near Oistins and is our closest swimming beach. Further west you will find Accra Beach where the boardwalk begins. Closer to Bridgetown is Carlisle Bay where you can dive shipwrecks and swim with turtles.

  • What activities are recommended for cultural experiences?

Try visiting the Mount Gay Rum Distillery or attending local festivals to engage with Barbadian culture firsthand. The very popular Oistins Fish Fry is a ten minute drive from OceanBlue. Be prepared to go early if you are planning to eat dinner there on a Friday night.

  • How do I book tours or excursions from the resort?

Our front desk team can assist with booking guided tours, snorkeling trips, and island excursions tailored to your interests. Alternatively, many of the tours can be booked online directly with the tour company before you travel. This is recommend especially during the months November to April as popular tours do get booked up.
